Let me start out honestly, today is the first day I have used this mower.
Having ordered it after my gas powered mower died, my grass was around 8" high and very thick throughout my back yard. The mower made it through 3/4 of my yard when I stopped. There was still a charge, but as high as the grass was, I simply didn't want to try and finish it. There was a fair bit of clumping, and a very small amount of re-tracing, but I expected that given the height of the grass.
The mower is heavy, but not too heavy, and weighs almost nothing without the battery(which is quite large). The battery can be charged either in the mower or separately, which is good as my shed doesn't have power. As for the charge, the indicator is on the right side of the handle just below the safety bar. This makes it very easy to see and know what your charge level is. It has 5 LEDs, 3 green on full charge, and they go down one at a time. In heavy grass you can see that the charge goes down, so it is estimating charge based off of the current load. After you get to 2/5 charge, the yellow LED lights up and after on the last 1/5 it is red.
Compared to my gas mower, this is a lot more quiet. It sounds like a very large, high RPM fan. When using my old mower, I would have to stop to talk to my wife. Tonight she sat on the steps of our deck and we talked as I passed back and forth without yelling. Also I didn't reek of gas and oil when I stopped tonight!
Lastly, it is nice to have a key and push button start. You insert a plastic key, hold the button and pull the saftey bar. No priming the fuel, checking the oil, cleaning the spark plug...So nice.
I hope to update this after a month or so of mowing with longer term findings.
